Niimi Museum of Art opened in November 1990. The museum offers visitors a wonderful view of downtown Niimi City and Ushimaru-daisen in the background. The museum has more than 1,000 articles on exhibit, approximately 70 of which are highly regarded paintings by Tomioka Tessai. In addition to the standard exhibitions, the museum holds special exhibitions six times each year. The area around the museum is a garden oasis for visitors featuring the seasonal nature of Niimi.
Relax in the museum café while viewing the Japanese rock garden (dry landscape that evokes the image of flowing water) and downtown Niimi City. The menu offers coffee, tea, juice, and matcha tea.
The museum also sells exhibition catalogues, books on Niiminosho, and other products.
